Brief 04

In this assignment i wanted to express confusion with zooming in and out. And i thought, since the song is talking about a particular girl, the idea of the girl driving him insane is because of her constant nagging, so I've exaggerated the fact that shes yelling. Again most of my inspiration came from handmade texture. A few examples of what i mean:

i love the texture of this plaster, it seems like there is life running through it with each grain and detail so pretty in everyway.

The the texture in this paper is great, you can see the expressions of raw anger coming through this.

i decided for my brief 04 to express a song titled Out Of Control by Kenna. The reason being is mainly because i found this soong very expressive in terms with the emotional lyric. SO i did some research into what the actual song was about. As it appears...

Out of control(state of emotion)- Kenna

All this pressure's building up

And there's a chance it's gonna explode

And I can't promise how, when or where,

But I can tell you it'll happen for sureIt's a crazy world,

it's spinning fastRound and round and round we go

Just keep your eyes on me now loveNever stray, never let go,

NO!Shit is out of control! It's out of control!

And I don't care what is happeningNo getting frustrated!

I wanna be sedated!So I don't care,

love come with me

Yeah it's doing my head in, you're doing my head in

And I can't change the state of emotion!

Bang bang boom energy's in the air

And the universe is speaking to me

And it's telling me, telling youTo get closer,

don't lay it on meIt's the same old feeling that I've been holding in

It's a feeling that's got a hold

I need your love and a key

So let me in and never let go,

NO!Shit is out of control!

It's out of control!

And I don't care what is happening

No getting frustrated!

I wanna be sedated!

So I don't care, love come with me

Yeah it's doing my head in,

you're doing my head in

And I cant change the state of emotion!

it's insane how it feelsit's insane how this feels

and I'm getting hotter

and I'm losing my mind

it's insane how it feels it's insane how this feels

and I'm feeling pressure and it's building up inside

it's insane how it feelsit's insane how it feels

and I'm losing my headyeah I'm losing my mind

it's insane how it feelsit's insane how it feels

and I feel the pressureand it's ready to blow!

Shit is out of control! It's out of control!

And I don't care what is happening

No getting frustrated! I wanna be sedated!

So I don't care, love come with me

Yeah it's doing my head in, you're doing my head in

And I can't change, HEY!Shit is out of control!

Shit's out of control!I don't care what is happening,

HEY!Shit is out of control! It's out of control!I don't care what is happening,

HEY!Shit is out of control, out of control.

Pirate Ship (03)

Shaun Tan is one of my favourite children book's illustrator. My main inspiration for creating a child-like feel would be influenced through my fascination with his stuff. In particular his book the lost thing where he uses found materials and turns them into collages. I hope can achieve that through using various found materials in this movie as well.

I really like the hand made graphics used in this book as well. Especially with the typography made of branches and sticks. I guess what I'm trying to say is that i am aiming to make my movie look hand generated.
This is one of the most exciting book covers I've seen. I like the hand made texture with the lettering. This was designed by Jenny Grigg.

Brief 02- Photo Manipulation

this image is from worth1000 website// http://www.worth1000.com. I choose this particular theme to work with for this brief. I like the idea of the exaggeration of what is real and not. This is basically the rough idea that i wanted to work with for this assignment.

My original idea came from the Power ranges idea, when they morph into the magazord. I'm assuming when they film the megazord fighting another monster in the small city scape. Well, i couldn't find any images to show you where my ida came from but here is  a a few links to give a better idea of what i mean.

Abstractioness is making me eyes hurt!

"Glow Wolf" by Larry Carlson. i like the psychedelic period, where they made such hypnotic works that would draw you to stare at it for a long period of time until you start seeing illusions!I really like the whole concept of repetition in these styled works.

This works are an amazing of abstraction in terms of just using simplistic shapes and turning them into a complicated composition. It's amazing. Even though the shapes don't have much relevance to each other, i like the fact that they have been mashed together. it's a mismatch but looks great! You can check out his stuff at http://www.edvardscott.com/

This work was for Dealer Delux, created by Sophie Toulouse. I've always been a big fan of her works, although I'd prefer looking at hang generated works more so than computer. Her works seems to have a feminine touch with the use of organic shapes, self portraits completed in silhouettes and I love art nouveau and deco decorations. She's got alot of that influence in her works as well.
This lovely piece of work was created by Allan Szacher. I really like the soft pastelly colours he's applied in this image to give it a playful environment. Using the play with negative&positives with the shapes help emphasizes hierarchy. The silhouettes are fine in detail with the little branches and leaves that makes the detailing in the work so beautiful.

Another fantastic website that i like visit is http://www.fatoe.com . HIs works are fantastic for inspiration.

Something Beautiful

One of my favourite artists is Cherry Hood. Her use of water colours is absolutely beautiful. Her trademark dripping has no meaning behind the artworks but is the actual effect of it, that makes these billboard sizes very overwhemling. The size of the works are so intricate with detail, that it makes the children look melancholy and vulnerable. It's disturbing yet something beautiful.
